Here are some of the research projects I have been involved in:

• Quantum Annealing for Particle Tracking
• COJAC: Climbing Over Java Arithmetic Capabilites (bytecode instrumentation). See those demos on Youtube . See also our paper about Numerical Problem Sniffers, in Dr. Dobb's Journal.
• VisualAudio: archiving phonograph discs using photographs and extracting the sound from the image
• CIDRE: a global concept for "modern" (at the time of my PhD!) document recognition systems...

And some personal contributions over the years:

• My COJAC project, where we modify at runtime the behaviour of numbers in Java: signal numerical anomalies (integer overflow, smearing, cancellation, harmful conversions, underflow, NaN or infinite results, comparison of nearly equal numbers...), use interval arithmetic or arbitrary precision numbers, perform automatic differentiation, and even switch to symbolic computation or Chebfun, just via the magic of a command-line JVM option...
• The Valgrind tool Cojac-grind, to signal numerical anomalies at runtime.
• Some nice material and Java code for a course in Data Structures and Algorithms.
• Some nice material and Prolog code for a course in Logic Programming (and Constraint Logic Programming).
• Some nice material for a course on Formal Aspects of Languages, with a chapter on Temporal Logic (see also our home-made LTL online tool.
• A generic mono-font OCR system, efficient and accurate.
• New algorithms for font recognition, OCR post-correction, and word segmentation.
• A cost model to help comparing recognition systems.
• A programming language dedicated to multi-agent systems.
• An interaction sheet language that goes beyond the traditional concept of style sheets.
• A general mechanism to couple pieces of programs written in different languages.
• A database of ground-truthed images database for document recognition systems.
